Goodbye weekly, hello fortnightly.

Just thought I'd drop a note dear readers about what's happening with TheComicSpot this year.

So far in January Jo, Bernard and I have been producing the show weekly to give our DIYArts colleagues a break over the summer. It's always good to punch out a bunch of programs quickly but it does leave you a little bedraggled when combined with work, sleep, dog walking, children, preparing for art shows, looking for housing, learning to surf, maintaining relationships, joining a regular science show, eating, resting, walking and all of the many and varied activites the three of us do in our day to day lives around the show. We started as a summer filler program in 2007 so it feels like we are honouring this beginning by continuing this pattern each summer.

That said; we are back to going fortnightly for the coming year. The next program is on 17th Feb at 5pm live on 3CR.

With around 60 hours of TheComicSpot produced to date I am proud of what we've acheived. I hope to make it top 100 hours and then i'll be reveiwing where i stand with it. There are changes in my life. I am leaving my job the Melbourne Museum after 6 years to study to become a primary school teacher. I'm very much looking forward to the change and where it will lead me. One of the places it is likely to lead me is away from Melbourne and that will impact on my ability to produce the show.

SO... this year is full steam ahead and I reckon we'll do another round of summer programming next year. I'm also endeavering to post so web only content to the www.thecomicspot.podomatic.com that doesn't go to air at 3cr first. Panel discussions and casual interviews around the traps throughout the year and the like.

I'd just like to wrap this post by giving a great big virtual hug to both Jo Waite and Bernard Caleo for all their contributions to TheComicSpot up until this point and here's hoping the path to hour 100 is just as fun.

Cheers
John
Lucy Van Pelt will be enjoying her morinng walks more regularly when I'm a uni student again.
